Childcare services for respondents to enhance women participation in research

Several projects our research teams in Turkey are evaluating aim to increase women’s participation in social life and employment.

One of the biggest difficulties women face in their participation in both employment and social life is the unequal distribution of responsibilities on domestic work and childcare responsibilities in their family. Providing childcare services during the interviews is one of the neglected but still significant issues when organizing fieldwork.

We believe that gender-sensitive research design should include all necessary arrangements to increase the participation of women. Therefore, when designing data collection operations, we highly recommend researchers to aim they ensure conditions that do not reproduce the existing structural inequalities women participants suffer.

At i-APS and our affiliate company TK-APS, we make sure to provide childcare services to increase and ensure women participation in our research.
